SCANDIC MARINA CONGRESS CENTER

Marina Congress Center is a unique congress center located  by the sea in the idyllic Katajanokka district, right next to the Market Square and Helsinki city centre. The Congress Center is an incomparable venue for conferences and events with an on-site hotel, Scandic Grand Marina, next door. The hotel is located in a beautiful warehouse building from the early 1900s.

The congress center has several versatile meeting spaces with modern technology and most rooms come with plenty of natural light. The largest meeting rooms have several doors to make the delegates enter and leave the rooms smoothly, without a rush. The wide staircase and spacious foyers provide a safe environment for congress delegates even during the breaks. Marina Congress Center has an outdoor terrace with a splendid view to the Baltic sea and to the vivid city center of Helsinki.

Katajanokka

The district of Katajanokka is a charming and peaceful seafront area with about 4000 residents. The district is located about 5 minutes walk from the Helsinki Market Square and has direct tram connection to the city centre and to the Helsinki railway station. Katajanokka has also a passenger harbour with Viking Line ferries to Stockholm and to Tallinn.

Until the 19th century, there were mainly some storage buildings in Katajanokka, but then several military barracks were built as well as harbour buildings and a prison. The art nouveau stone buildings constructed in the early 20th century are well-preserved and form an architectural area that is uniquely uniform even by European comparison. Several Finnish celebrities have lived and still live in the district.

Today, the prison has been converted to a boutique Hotel Katajanokka and the warehouses to Hotel Scandic Grand Marina as well as to several event venues.
